Emma Dorsey
A Note From the Artist
My first couple days of online school were very difficult. It was the middle of my junior year of high school, and I had just moved from another country a new high school in the US, so another transition is exactly what I needed. In between classes I would leave the “classroom”, shut my laptop, and hide underneath my hair, hoping I would wake up from a weird apocalyptic dream. This painting represents a self soothing coping mechanism that helped me get through the awkward zoom breakout rooms. Reflecting on how I felt in this painting from how I feel now, I am proud of how much I’ve grown through these almost two years.
