Bloom

Serena Addut

This piece was made with various techniques, first I collaged an edited printed image I took with vintage botanical book scraps, creating the main composition of the iris head and other pieces surrounding the body. Next I scanned this printing it onto plastic sheets and used cyanotype (sun printing with photosensitive dyes) and the sheet like a negative to create the final image on watercolour paper. I’ve also been captivated by botanical art, and so this piece with a flower instead of a head, represents how much of my thoughts are filled with florals, but also how becoming who you really are is all about caring for yourself the same way you would a flower, watering and nurturing your ideas, your worth, your passions until they bloom.
